School Banking

School banking starts back on Monday – each Monday place your yellow Dollarmite school banking book in the brown box at the office. Mrs Piggott is our new P&C banking coordinator. Bank books will be sent home each week ready for the next bank day. Prep students who may not have a bank book please see the office. So start saving!

School Opinion Surveys

Yesterday the eldest child on each family was sent home with an access code and website link to our school opinion survey. This is an annual process where you have the opportunity to formally give feedback about our school and suggest areas for improvement, if any. Your opinion is valued so please take the time to participate in the survey if you’re interested.

Mrs P is flying to Wagga Wagga

For those who may not know, I was absent from school today (Thursday) and will also be again on Friday. Mrs Cannell will be taking the Prep class tomorrow. I am flying to Wagga Wagga for my nephews Baptism and I am very excited to be his Godmother at this special family celebration. I will be back to school on Monday and look forward to sharing some photos about my journey and special event. Smiles and green dojos to everyone!

Prep Interviews

Thank you to all the parents who made an interview with me this week to discuss your child’s report progress and to touch base on the learning journey so far. I always enjoy meeting families and sharing your children’s achievements with you. If you missed a meeting time I am always happy to meet you at a more suitable time. Congratulations to all of our Prep students – I am very proud of all of you and know you really are smart cookies. 😎

P-2 Circus

Invitations to our P-2 circus performance went home yesterday. Please send your child’s costume to school by the end of next week at the latest in a labelled bag. This is so we can ensure all students have a suitable costume to wear on the day. If you would like to help with activities on our prep open morning and help with set up for our circus performance please let me know. The date for our performance is Wednesday 6th August (week 4) at 10:30am. This will also be the same day as our Prep 2015 open morning where families interested in enrolling a student in Prep at Merinda for 2015 can come and see the exciting things happening in the Prep room. Please share this information with anyone you know who may be interested. Our enrolments are being taken now.

School photos

School photos were sent home on Tuesday this week. Any students in Prep catching the bus home did not take theirs home in case of any photo accidents. Luckily I believe all photos arrived home safely 🙈

Our new plants

Thanks to Mrs Henry and Noah for helping prep plant our first seedlings this morning. We are growing lavender, strawberries, parsley, basil and snow peas. We still have plenty of room for more plants if you would like to bring a seedling to plant.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Interviews with report handovers will commence next week on Monday. I have times available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If none of the listed times suit you please see me to make an appointment for a more suitable time. I am always more than happy to meet with parents at any time of the year – so please feel free to have a chat with me if you have any questions, concerns or celebrations for your child’s learning journey this year. The idea of having a meeting with the report handover is so we can discuss your child’s learning, how to read and understand the report grades, plan future goals for your child’s learning or where we are headed next and finally it is a great way to communicate with you all on a personal level. Booking sheets went home on Wednesday and are to be returned to school on Friday. You will receive the sheet again with your highlighted time included. Thank you to everyone who was very prompt in returning those cards today. I look forward to chTting to all our families next week.
